i.
Walking to the drugstore in the rain
As worms wiggle past and streetlights blink:
"Walk."
"Do not walk."

ii.
I'm warmed by two things –
Hot cider in my stomach and your arms around my waist.

iii.
Violent yellow fungus
Thrusts its way outward from the tree trunk.
Creeping, creeping,
I see girls come and throw rocks at it.

iv.  
John's voice reading The Raven by a campfire.
Embers flavor the s'mores as smoke clings
To sweatshirts and woolen socks.
A glittery shooting star
(or firework?)
Flames overhead.

v.
Pea-soup sky –
The science building is a haunted house.

vi.
Your kisses are Sund
Lewis and ClarkLewis and Clark

As we stood overlooking the great Pacific
I cannot deny the incredible sadness that I felt.
For months we had journeyed,
For months we had trodden and suffered and
Died, even,
And suddenly we had reached the unarguable end.

The breakers crashed and roared,
While smaller, smoother waves tumbled harmlessly onto the white sand.
Salt wind, tears in our eyes, oh –
The sight of a storm out at sea.

Camp that night was silent as death,
For, now that we had done what we came to do
What was left?
We would return the way we came,
Through a fresh young land, but no longer a virgin one.
We had crossed one infinity and

Swear to god.. there is a path just like this down the road from here, in a place called Giant City. Actually thought, when I first saw it, that it was a picture of same.
